Tan Beng Hui has been actively working with women’s groups in Malaysia since 1990. She is presently involved in a project on sexuality rights which aims to address some of the issues she has raised in this article. 

Tan Beng Hui is a freelance researcher and writer based in Malaysia. She has a keen interdst in women and sexuality rights issues. (2001)
