It is almost a year's time since we discussed in our Committee meeting in October 1984 about the request from Isis International to publish an issue of their Women's Journal. As our area of concern are of industrial women workers in Asian region, we thought that it was a treasurable opportunity to share the problems and experiences of the struggle of our fellow sisters in this part of the world with the other concerned people, especially women in Latin America and Africa.
This first cooperation between us and Isis International has a deep meaning in relation to the future direction of the work of CAW. Women workers are not only industrial workers as such. They are also part of the larger sector of the women gender. Problems of women workers are not only issues of the political economy of industrialization, but also should also be seen as arising from socio-cultural factors which have been hindering the total human development of women workers.
We sincerely request responses from friends of different parts of the world to the discussions or questions raised in this Journal so that we know the concern and struggle of women workers are still going on worldwide. We also hope that we could have further cooperation and communication with Isis International and other concerned groups in the future.
