Women, Oppression and Liberation in Africa is the theme of this double issue, 27/28, the last of 1983. It reflects the variety of women's experience and the nature of their struggles against oppression in Africa, taking up the issues that feminist-socialism has raised in the analysis of gender, class and imperialism in Africa. Articles cover the effect of socialist strategies on women in Mozambique and Zimbabwe; the implications of sexual division of labor in cash crop and food production; agricultural policies of aid agencies in Africa; the proletarization of women in Africa; feminism in Africa; and the women's movement in Namibia, Angola, Eritrea and Nigeria.

Malaysia like many other Asian countries today, is undergoing tremendous socioeconomic changes and this has had far reaching consequences on the role and status of women in the country.
This book deals with the various aspects of the central issue of how Malaysian women are being affected by the processes of modernization and development. Each of the four parts in the book examine the economic and social position of Malaysian women, the problems faced by women workers in the manufacturing industries, health hazards faced by women, and the issue of violence against women.
In putting this collection of readings together, the Consumers" Association of Penang (CAP) hopes to contribute to the further study and understanding of the issues and problems confronting Malaysian women in a rapidly changing society; and to the improvement of the economic, social and cultural status of our women.
