Shortly after the conference described above, ISIS was contacted by a member of 1 FDA {International Foundation of Development Alternatives) in relation to a proposed project: a "Who's Who of Alternative Communication", an international, comprehensive directory of groups involved in alternative communication. Part of the project is to find out what people mean by "alternative communication".

Since this project is similar in intent, if wider in scope, to the directory proposed at the Women's International Media Network conference (and of which a prototype is being prepared by the International Women's Tribune Centre), we at ISIS felt our readers would want to be informed of the proposal.

The project is now in the exploratory stage where the need and feasibility are being studied. CODEV (Communication for Development — the joint project of IFDA and others, of which the Who's Who is one part) would like to hear from those interested in appearing in the directory and/or those who feel the directory would be useful. They would like to know not on/y whether such a directory is needed, but how the compilation can best be accomplished.
