Focus on Asian Women: Our Struggles, our Lives
Our transfer to Asia has not only allowed us to be physically closer to our Asian sisters but also to link up with them in more direct ways. In the past nine months, we have met many of our sisters in conferences, meetings and in our two offices on East Maya Street. We have had an opportunity to talk with them, to share fresh ideas and experiences as women and to gain strength from the knowledge that none of us are alone in the struggle. We are looking forward to more direct consultations with our sisters on how best to strengthen our network in Asia and to open more communication channels among all of us.
In trying to come closer to this goal,we have decided to focus on Asian women as the theme of the third issue. We have chosen several articles that focus on the women's movements in Southeast Asia and other articles that speak of women's actions in other parts of Asia.
As a way of getting to know each other more closely, we are featuring a few women's groups in Southeast Asia through the network of The Global Fund for Women. The information we present is by no means exhaustive and we would like you to correct or add to what we have been able to include. We also like to request you to help us expand our knowledge of other women's groups in order to more effectively link you to one another. Please write us if your group has not yet been featured. We would be happy to write about your group in our subsequent issues.
Meanwhile, keep in touch and let us know what you would like us to feature in our next issues of Women in Action.
