Kobara Women's Group was created in1984 by few women in Ragengni, Kenya and gradually joined by others. Now it has a total membership of 50 and the group's main activity is farming.
The women grow food crops and sell them. They have sufficient land and use oxen drawn ploughs and jembes. Half of their harvest is divided among themselves while the other half is saved in the groups' account for the needy. Part of the share is used for repair and maintenance of the tools. They are also planning to build a nursery school made of available local materials like grass for thatching the roof and build the house with mud. Presently, they are occupying a space in the local church building which they transformed into a nursery school. If sufficient funds are
raised, they will build a semi-permanent one.
The women meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and actively perform different activities.
